My boyfriend's 19-yr-old daughter has germaphobic OCD. She washes her hands a lot and can't go anywhere without her anti-bac hand gel. She washes all her clothes in hot water even though I've asked her father several times to convince her to wash in cold water as the dryer heat will kill bacteria. (We're trying to save on bills since I recently lost my job.) Her father just insists that I'm sweating the small stuff and he doesn't want her to feel uncomfortable having to wash her clothes in cold water. I try to get him to help her, but he tells me I'm stupid to make a big deal of it and tells me to leave her alone. Is there anything I can do or should I just try to ignore the problem like he does? I know she is suffering from her OCD because she says she knows it's crazy, but my boyfriend says that she's happy the way things are and I shouldn't upset the apple cart. Should I just accept and enable the behavior and mind my own?
