How do I download apps for my Blackberry Curve 8520?

I have tried going to the website directly via the browser on the phone but it just says error! My friend has a Blackberry and is able to download applications so does anyone know if there's something that I should probably be doing? I also can't use the Bluetooth as it is apparently locked... Can anybody help as it's driving me crazy! Thanks
I've seen alot of people saying that you need data included in your plan or you need to buy internet to go with it... Its a pay as you go phone and it came with the first 6 months of internet free so it's not for that reason
And I know that I need to download Appworld and it is not already on the phone and when I type the web address in the browser to take me to it it says error!
 
Go here and enter an email address that is synced to your phone:

Click link in your email to download and install AppWorld on your phone
 
You need the Blackberry App world.

It should be on your phone it's self. Have a look.!

I am just about to get a Blackberry. And i have helped with alot of problems on them.

Do you have a simcard inserted.?

And, If you would rather not fuss about with technical details. Why don't you try backing up what's on there via computer and then Factory reset it.

Or try updating it.
