How do i download pics from my motorola razor?

I have a new motorola razor and I want to download the pictures off it onto my computer, I have an old cable that fits it, but when I plug it into my computer, it tellls me I need to download the software for the phone. How do I do this?
 
It's much easier to use a memory card and a card reader that plugs into your USB port
