How do I extract a fie from Bittorrent?

I have downloaded several files using bittorrent. I can open those files within the bittorrent client. However, I would like to extract the files so that they are not "stuck" within the bittorrent clinet. I want to be able to burn them to a cd, put them on an mp3 player, place them in a different folder, etc. Any ideas?
