how do i fix my bmw 1989 shift indicator lights?

I heard its not that hard to fix the fuse or whatever the problem is can someone please help if you know? The gear shifter is fine it's just the indicator/ lights won't show up when i shift gears.. HELP!!!
 
Find the fuse box, normally under your dash on the drivers side, they are normally marked. It's a pull out the dead one, put in a new one. It's a little door.

Do you actually use the shift indicator? I've driven a couple cars with one of them and found it to be utterly useless and wrong half the time....there's no need to be in 4th gear when only going 30km like the indicator normally says.
