How do I fix my Rift problem?

I keep trying to play Rift, but my screen freezes and the only way for the game to work is to Ctrl-Alt-Delete and then click task manager, and when it opens up, just click on the game window, for another 10-20 seconds of play time before I have to rinse and repeat. I am using a GTX 285 Vid Card (Driver Updated yesterday) 4 or 6 gigs of RAM, I have an i7 Core Processor, and the computer is not hot on the inside. I am not having these problems in WoW or any other game I am playing. Just Rift. Any suggestions on what might be the cause or culprit, or even better yet, how to fix the problem? (No smartass answers please, they will be removed.)
