How do I force my digital TV to pick up weak digital broadcasts?

I live about 50 miles from Indianapolis and I'd like to find the digital signals that emanate from that city. As far as I can tell, the only way to do it is to have the television run a scan to find stations, but it doesn't find the Indianapolis stations. Is there any way I can pick them up?
