How do I format a micro sd card to work with my Motorola em326g phone?

I recently bought a 2GB micro sd card. When I inserted it into the phone, nothing really happened. I then used a USB to connect the phone to my computer and transferred music onto it. My computer recognizes the 2GB of storage, and according to my computer all the music I transferred is on the phone. However, when I detach the phone and go to "all songs," only five songs show up. I have no idea what the problem is, but I'm wondering if I needed to format the micro sd card?
 
may be your memory card is not working properly.save a copy of your songs in your pc.then format your memory card.
