I successfully fixed my DVD drive by deleting upper registry...it was working fine, I was even listening to a CD. I paused it and was on the web, when I got back to itunes there was no CD shown anymore, I went to try to eject it but the button did nothing and there is no yellow or green light. I was looking for a way to eject it and right clicked on my laptop under devices and pressed eject but I believe it may have been to eject the DRIVE itself as now I go to System>Device Manager and the DVD/CD-Rom category is gone. I don't want to have to pry it open to recover my disk and I would like to use discs on my laptop in the future. What to I do? My OS is Windows 7 and my laptop is Toshiba i that helps.
Dylan: I know how to uninstall and restart, I've done that to fix it before, the problem NOW is that the driver is gone. I can't uninstall it because it's not there. Joy: the system is Windows 7. The laptop is a Toshiba.
