i live on a college campus and my only internet comes from their network. i just downloaded bittorrent on my new laptop and have not been able to get it to work. after reading pretty much the entire bittorrent help guide, i'm pretty sure that my connection troubles are due to the network i'm using. someone PLEASE give me some straightforward instructions on how to fix this so i can be on my merry way to downloading music again.

I just wouldn't do it, I've heard that college internet are monitored and if you get caught you can get into some serious problems, plus you would probably get slow speed, like I said don't do it... go buy, and if we were to help you we'd get banned or a violation warning.

It sounds like your college is blocking the sites - and this is common. After all, how is music downloading an academic exercise and why should the school permit students to burden the network on non-academic activities.

Keep in mind that you are being permitted to use the college network and its use is limited to what the network administrators feel is prudent and proper use. The college, like everyone else, does not have infinite capacity or infinite money to provide infinite capacity and they need to manage the network for its intended use.

The system administrators are pretty capable and if they blocked access you will not circumvent the block.

I suggest you download from your personal ISP perhaps while back home.
