how do I get internet access with a blackberry pearl?

So I am really confused. I just got the phone today and I tried to download Black Berry Desktop and it worked but won't sync with my computer. Then I tried to download the other CD and it worked but I cant pull it up on my comp. So I guess the later of the cds is what allows me to get connection? Im so confused. And yes I am signed up for interent w/Verizon. Please help. Thanks
 
Are you trying to use your phone to connect to the internet on your computer? Thats an additional charge. If your just trying to get on your phone and it doesn't work, bring it back to the store and have them fix it for you. Or, they'll have to give you a new one.
