Okay so my mom has an Ipod touch 3rd Generation. i know its third because she got it a year before i got mine and mine is 4th. a while back when iTunes released IOS for iPod i upgraded mine. Mine currently runs on IOS 5.0.1. and im given the option to upgrade it to 5.1 every time i plug it up but refuse because last time i upgraded it erased all my songs. So why is it that it asks my ipod and not hers. i read on the actual apple site under Support that IOS is in fact compatible for the 3rd generation, so why cant i upgrade it? What ive tried so far is going on iTunes and clicking check for updates ( she is currently running on 4.2.1) and it tells me she is up to date? this is really annoying me. i have also upgraded my itunes it self to see if that would help but nothing changed. .
Im not jail breaking or anything like that.
We are thinking about just taking it to the APPLE store for a cleaning and just having them upgrade it. Im sure that costs quite a bit of money so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
