How do I get my HP 396975-002 Laptop Remote to work with my Samsung R580 Laptop?

I understand fully that my Samsung R580 laptop and my HP 396975-002 are NOT compatible, so is there some kind of USB device I can buy that will communicate with the remote and tell the laptop its a remote, or maybe even something I can put in the expansion port of my laptop that would "talk" with the HP remote? I just want them to work together, I don't care how they do it. If I can't possibly make them work together in any way, what other cheap (Under $5) remote is there that will work with my Samsung R580 laptop?
