if i have windows vista and when i go to the networking and sharing center on the toolbar and view status on my connection the speed is 100.0 mbps. If i want a speed of 1.0gbps do i have to upgrade my internet plan with bell? do i need a capable router? do i need to upgrade a chip in my computer? all of the above? and if possible what is the cheapest way i can do this ? THANKS

You most likely do not get 1000 Mbps form your ISP or even 100 Mbps.

What you are seeing is the reported interface speed, mainly of the network interface in your computer.

Best you can hope for is 1000 Mbps on your LOCAL network. You need to buy Gigabit-capable network cards and router/switch for these speeds on your LOCAL network.
