How do i get out of a family Thanksgiving vacation?

So heres the deal. My parents are split and that means shared holidays. This Thanksgiving i happen to be with my father whom i dont really get along with, including his side of the family which is where we happen to be going for the Thanksgiving vacation. It also happens to be in Arizona, a 13 hour drive away.
The other part is my best friend is coming back from college for the holiday to visit me and her family. I havent seen her for a year and really miss her.
I dont wanna seem selfish, but id like to stay with my mom for this holiday so i can avoid conflict with my father over the entire trip, avoid a 13 hour drive, and see my best friend!, unfortunatly my father doesnt think my feelings are important so he says i HAVE to go..
Any ideas on how i can get out of this vacation????
 
You can't get out of it. It's Thanksgiving. No one can get out of seeing their family on Thanksgiving, not even adults. I'm 29 years old and if I told my family I was visiting a friend for Thanksgiving they would be super pissed!
 
Depends on your age. if underage you have to do what you are told, if not then you can put your foot down
 
you do whatever the hell you want.. what the hell is wrong with your dad?.... go with your mom and have a great Thanksgiving but dont forget to call him either
