How do i get the voicemail icon off my LG Vortex?

I had a voicemail, checked it and now my icon wont go away. So when people call me i don't know if they leave me a voicemail because it tells me i have one voicemail. I called it just before and noticed i had to voicemails from the night before. How do i get it to go away?

There is an option to delete all the messages. When you have the curser thingy on it so it is highlighted, press a butten that says options. Then it should pop up
