How do I go about trading cars with my step father?

I'm trading cars with my step father to save some money (loan and insurance). Where do I start?

If it helps, he recently married my mother - he didn't adopt me so it's relation by law. Secondly, we live in Massachusetts. The cars are a '94 Buick and a '00 Alero.
 
Well, first if there is loans involved, you have to make the transfers via the bank, as they hold the title. You would need to contact the bank and explain you want to transfer the loan/vehicle. They will need a loan application filled out for the person that you are transferring too as well as a title transfer. On the other vehicle, if there is no loan, then you would have to go to the DMV and transfer the title and then also transfer your tags.
