how do i make BitTorrent downloads go faster?

Right now i am downloading a game file. The game file is like 4.18GB long and I know it is worth the wait. My problem tho, is that it only downloads an average of 8.0kb/s. and that is really bad. :( I have the regular version of BitTorrent and I was wondering if somebody would please tell me if they know how to make the BitTorrent downloads download faster. Please explain to me how or a link or some thing.

there are lot of misconceptions about bittorrent. I recommend you read all of this, http://torrentfreak.com/optimize-your-BitTorrent-download-speed/ . Do steps 2 and 3 first then if it is still slow do step 1. But I have dont 2 and 3 and my upload and download speed has increased dramatically. i hop this link helps
