I've been unable to figure out how to take mp3 files, add DRM to them, and put them on my new Samsung A796 (Rogers) to work as ring tones.
I tried the Sony Ericsson DRM Packager, using the methods ( http://www.cellphones.ca/forums/discussion/3931/solved-set-your-mp3-music-as-ringtone-on-rogers-fido-samsung-a706-a516/ ) readily found with some searching. I got the .dm files on to my phone, but the media player on the phone refused to recognize them at all. I tried manually changing the .dm extension to .mp3 (the default ring tones have an mp3 extension) and the phone treated them as if hadn't packaged them at all.
Is there no way to get ring tones to work on the Samsung A796 without paying Rogers for them or have I overlooked something huge in my hours of trying to understand this problem?
