I have been trying to play Avi files on my MacOSX but continually am prompted with an error on Quicktime saying additional software needs to be downloaded in order for me to play the Avi files through quicktime.

When I try to open the files on DivX it plays the video but not the audio and prompts me with this error "You may need an additional audio decoder to play the soundtrack of this file. This file contains a track in the Dolby AC3 Audio (code "8192") format. You may need to install a DirectShow decoder for this audio format in order to hear the soundtrack of this file."

My question is what do I need to download to play these files(On either one) and where do I find this download?

Don't waste your time with quicktime, just download VLC Media Player.
