When humor is lost, the last thing to do is to look for it.
Humor is synonymous with Wisdom.
When one hour comedy specials just don't cut it anymore, it's time to turn inward and reflect. Meditation and contemplative practices enliven our Spirits and humor begins to spontaneous birth from deep within the belly. This humor is not from dry witty comments or low brow jokes, but rather from the joyous expression and manifestations of life itself.
In other words, if you have lost your sense of humor, that is a sign that you are ready to leave behind the superficial flatland comedy "out there" and find yourself within an unfolding drama itself already full of comedic events, situations and characters. This loss of humor is the first step to acknowledge a contracted state of being that needs to undergo a death and rebirth. This loss of humor is when to turn inward and investigate life with deep curiosity.
Wisdom brings lightness in character, it brings humor but also brings deep sadness for the human condition as well—this is compassion.
Someone once asked Ken Wilber: "How do you know you are making progress in self development?"
He replied: "If you are laughing more every day and crying more everyday"
This sums it up quite nicely.
It is spring time and time for renewal.
Think about getting rid of the old and making way for the new.
Humor will return from a much more expansive and deeper place.
Remember that a loss of humor is not a bad thing, it is signaling a readiness to grow up and wake up.
