how do I remove the EVAP canister vent valve on a 2000 oldsmobile silhouette?

I have a P0446 DTC. When I tapped on the vent valve, the check engine light went off for a couple of days, but it came back on. I'm pretty sure changing the vent valve will solve my problem. Thanks in advance for any advice.
