how do i save a DVD to the hardrive on my laptop?

i really would like to be able to save the movie to my computer so i could edit it and watch it when ever i want to. but i really want to edit it. like bleep cussing, violence, and profanity.

Its illegal to do that, you would be breaking the copyright on it.
