How do I unlock a T-Mobile G1 without knowing the pattern password?

It keeps asking me to put in the pattern as a password... My friend just gave me the phone today and he said he doesn't know what the password is. It was his phone, then he passed it to another friend who put the password on, and now I eventually got a hold of it. I can't use the phone without putting in the password but no one has one for me -__-
