How do I use newsgroups to download stuff?

I heard a lot about Newsgroups but I'm looking to learn more about how to access them and everything. It all seems kind of complicated.
 
Newsgroups are ancient but still in use. can use a newsgroup reader application or if using windows you can use Outlook to connect to different news groups. WARNING. Newsgroups arent really a good place for novices. Lots of hackers and really bad people hang out there and unless you trying to find something only available through these newsgroups then you may want to try something else...
