How do Nhl Players qualify as rookies?

After thy play a certain amount of games in the nhl are they no longer considered a rookie?
 
Their first season in the league is their rookie season. However, if their first season is limited to only 4 or 5 games, then the following season may be considered their rookie season if they play that full season. Im not sure what the official number is, 4 or 5 is just a guess.
