How do u migrate pokemon from GBA?

Do you need to finish the pokemon diamond/pearl game to migrate & hav the National Pokedex?

Yes you do. When you do, a new area will open up. I believe you have to use surf from the resort area to get there. When you get there, you choose the pokemon you want to migrate to your diamond/pearl and they will transfer into a safari area. You must go in the safari area and try to find the pokemon you migrated. If they are powerful pokemon, it usually takes a few tries to find them. It might take a while, so be patient. Hope I helped :]
