how do you change the android system ui settings?

could I just place my ".ogg" file into the /system/media/audio/ui/
lets say... replace it with "lock.ogg".... would it change the lock sound??
or would I have to download the Android SDK and remount it...

Make sure to name your new file lock.ogg or the phone won't know what you're trying to do.
It should work that way.
