My MIL is starting to get on my nerves. My husband is away at boot camp so instead of calling him 50 times a day, she calls me. She seriously called me last night to ask me to come over to her house to bring her laundry upstairs to her bedroom because she was too tired to get it up the stairs. WTF?! I said no. This was my first time saying no to her ridiculous requests and I haven't heard from her all day today. She needs to understand that I work 9 1/2 hours a day, then I go to the chiropractor for 2 hours after work for my scoliosis. I shouldn't even be lifting heavy stuff like she's always asking me to. I'm going to try talking to her but if she stops calling me, she'll find someone else to call and annoy them. how can I get her to help herself?

ignore her
when noone was home and my grandfather was home alone he did everything by himself
but once there was someone around (in your case someone to baby her) he got all babish
so ignor and she will do her own stuff

Nothing wrong with learning to say "no". When you need to it is the best possible solution.

She will get over it and in time the phone will ring again.

Then dear it is up to you to let her know your limitations in a nice cordial way.
