How do you down shift a car?

Ok imagin im driving and i have to stop at a light and i want to put it in nuetral instead of down shifting and if i do use nuetral do i have my foot the whole tym on the clutch and start pushing a little bit on the break?
i just need help and i would rather use nuetral then down shifting so please explain:)
 
If you put it in neutral you don't need to use the clutch, you can start braking normally. You only use the clutch if you shift it in a gear. Best way to downshift is to lower the rpm's to about 2-3k and than downshift into the proper gear. Practice a lot and you'll eventually get it. Good luck.
