if my phone isn't compatible with this version which is the closest to android 4.0 which is compatible and how can I download it?

If your providor has not released the 4.0 update by noe your not getting it unless you unlock and root it and flash a custom ROM which will void warranty and my brink your phone android 2.3 is the closest to 4.0 as the 3.0 is for tablets only. The latest it 4.2.2
