How do you get limewire to connect to the internet?

I Just downloaded limewire and every time I open it up and search something it says that limewire is still connecting to the internet. Do I have to wait, or is there a problem, I have tried taking down my firewall... no dice.

you also have to allow limewire to access the internet through windows firewall. Limewire should automatically connect after a minute or two. wait and see if it connects and report back.

reinstall it...
make sure firewall is not blocking limewire

if your behind a router try switching to passive mode, otherwise port forward and stay in active. might help

This problem happend to me. I disabled my firewall and still nothing happened. Then I restarted my computer and it started working. On the lower left corner there are these green and red bars. The amount of bars tells you how good your connection is. If you have one green bar you can't do much because you have a poor connection. poor connections are caused by firewalls, excessive use of computer, and too much information. This is what I did to make it work.

1. allow limewire to run, so change your firewall settings.
2. exit limewire completely.
3. restart your computer
4. go back and try it.
