How do you greet hippies?

I live in a place thats really liberal. There are a good amount of hippies and all around relaxed folk. So... when you meet a new person, do you shake their hand? I never know what to do. Shaking hands seems so formal.
 
Just greet them like you would anyone else. I usually dont shake hands when i meet people, unless they put their hand out first. Just make eye contact, smile and ask them how they're going. Then add 'nice to meet you.' I's polite and not too formal. FYI, hippies are the most easy-going bunch around. Don't look into it too much, just relax and be yourself.
 
same way you would greet any other person, with a smile and a friendly hello
 
yo man what's goin down man? just say man a lot and they'll understand
