How do you lock a Sony Ericsson W580i completely?

My roommate is extremely nosy and likes to answer my phone and reply to texts. I get no privacy at all. Is it possible to lock my phone so that you have to put in a passcode to use it?
I did that, but nothing happens.
 
go 2 settings, in general go 2 security, then 2 locks, phone protection, go 2 on, it will ask for code, set it and you should be ready 2 go.
