How do you play the Nintendo game Gyromite through the emulator NEScafe?

The A and B buttons on the emulator is supposed to be x and z but they dont seem to function; making the game impossible to play because the character cannot pass through the red and blue walls that are suppose to close with the A and B buttons. The game can be found on 1980-games.com but I can seem to figure out how those buttons work. I even tried to reconfigure the controls. Can any gamers out there help?
 
You need to pause and use the second controller (or R.O.B., if you were on a real NES), it's a co-operative game. If NEScafe only supports one controller, you can't play it.
