How do you put liquid pine tar on a bat?

I just got a new baseball bat and i was wondering how to put liquid pine tar on the bat because that is what came with it. do i just put some right on the handle or on a rag..what do i do!?
 
You put some on a rag, then you rub it on the taper of the bat. Then you put some on your hands by grabbing where you applied the pine tar, then grip the bat with your now-sticky hands.
 
Are you putting it on an aluminum or wood bat? If you're using it for a wooden bat you do put it on a rag and then wrap the rag around the handle of the bat. An aluminum bat will not require pine tar because it already has a grip on it.
 
Put it on with a rag. Make sure you don't put it straight on your gloves if you wear them. Only take it from the taper of the bat when its needed, or else it will dry up your gloves and cause them to get slick and smooth. Just a tip.
