I've got a 1985 Lincoln Town Car that I just bought used. It doesn't start without a jump and Shucks said it was most likely the starter since both the battery and alternator tested good. I bought a new starter and am now in the process of switching the old one out for the new one. I believe I have located my starter underneath the car but being caked with mud makes it pretty hard. The part I found is made by motorcraft and it looks like the cable follows up to what I believe is the solenoid but not quite sure. If anyone knows step by step how to replace the starter I'd really appreciate it. Also if anyone knows what size ratchet will be needed or has a labeled picture or diagram I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks so much for your time.

1/2" is bolts for starter mounting, unless someone replaced before then they will be 9/16",also 3/8" for the battery cable attach to the starter.Jack the car up,by and behind the right front wheel, make sure secure the car with jackstands.
