how do you turn off all apps for blackberry torch?

My battery on my BB torch is not holding its charge any more. Someone suggested that some apps might be staying open therefor draining my battery. How do I make sure all of my apps are closed and what other reason would my battery be draining so fast?
 
Hold down the Menu key to see what is running.

Home, Browser, BBM, Phone and Messages will always be running.

Close everything else.

Turn off wi-fi and Bluetooth if you are not using them.
