how do you use the grappling gook in james bond - nightfire for ps2?

I dont know how to shoot the grappling hook to grab onto something in the first mission. Ive tried holding the fire button and every other button. how do i shoot it?

also, which controller mode is the best, im set to Nightfire right now because classic bond wasnt to great. which one do you reccomend using for single player and multiplayer?
