how does a money market bank account earn interest?

I opened a money market account to buy stocks etc. If I just leave it in the account how often is the interest or dividends added to the account it is with ingdirect
 
Generally, MM KT accounts pay interest monthly, but calculate it on a daily basis.
 
I don't know a whole lot about MMA's but most get interest added every month. You'll need to ask ingdirect directly if your wondering if the interest is compounding. This just means you can gain interest on interest. I hope this helps.
