Just curious if it's like driving a car..... meaning your foot is always on the gas if you want to go forward.
Or is it more like: once the shuttle enters space and gravity is no longer an issue, does the pilot use controlled bursts of thrust that are spaced apart to keep on course and up to a predetermined speed?
If so, could or does the pilot use longer bursts at first to speed up the vehicle ... while each subsequent burst is shorter and earlier than the previous to continue acceleration while conserving fuel in an effort to travel deeper into space?
