How does Ireland's financial mess affect my potential vacation there?

Going in May 2011. Looks like they are in a bigger mess than the US. Will it have any affect on my vacation?

Probably not, it might be beneficial things should be less expensive for you ie accommodation as the various hotels and B&B clamour for the few remaining customers who can actually afford to go on holiday. There are special deals on all the time now, don't be afraid to haggle.

Assuming you live outside the € Zone you might actually gain. The Republic of Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Greece all have severe financial problems which together are likely to drive down the value of the Euro. So when you exchange you get more Euros for your money. I suggest you delay exchanging until the last minute.
