...context of religion and theism? How can one be yourself - even though yourself (your passions, desires, sentiments) may be even be in conflict with your religion or belief system?
Personally, I want to belief in a God again, but doubt and reason is preventing my faith.
I don't want to give up me in order to belief in something.
 
You do not need to operate spiritually within the confines of a religion or a dogma. To be yourself, is just that, being yourself. There are 6.7 billion of us, and each one of us has a different idea about what God is. (or isnt) Some of us adhere to the rules and regulations of religions, some of us don't. Let your doubt and reason serve you through your learning experience, and may your wisdom bring you back to God.
