How easy is it to remove the cheesy padded vinyl roof from a Lincoln Town Car

Signature Limited? I'd never even consider this car but I have an awesome chance to buy one with only 4,000 miles. The padded roof is a bit pimp for my taste though. What's involved in removing it? I'd be repainting the car anyway.
 
If you take it off, you destroy what makes the car special. It is what gives the car its value.

Just remember that underneath the vinyl the roof is not particularly well finished.
 
If your are repainting any way then it is worth it. otherwise it is a mess of rivit holes, adhesive and faded paint. Usually some rust under there as well so be prepared.
