I'm eligible to get a phone upgrade with verizon. I'm stuck on either getting one of the phones from the droid line or wait for the verizon iphone in january (this is not 100% assured yet is it? Cuz i still think its sketchy). I know that the iphone's apps are the best you can get, but how are the android apps. Are there a bunch of useful stuff in the android market like medical stuff for med students, graphing calculators, and that kind of stuff for school that you can find on the iphone? Are there awesome games that are like tap tap revenge, and other fun arcades games that you can find on the iphone. Thing is that i dont really want an iphone cuz i just think its overrated. Its basically been the same OS but with added features, but i like the customization with nice widgets, skins of the android OSnot to mention hacking which i feel i would enjoy doing. I also like the android OS much more than the iphone. I can make it my own and i feel that, that is very important to me which cant be done on the iphone. But i wont get an android phone on verizon if the apps are subpar. as long as they are not garbage, but at least a little lower in quality than the iphone is fine. So are android apps any good?
Oh yeah. Is there a similar such as a jailbreak on the iphone for the android OS where you can get those android apps for free?

yeah
android has great apps
all apps made by google, like maps, gmail, G talk, voice etc are great, they are updated frequently and offer features no one else does.
android has alot of apps from medical students, a lot of medical dictionaries, graphic calculators etc
Android is only going to be two years old this October, so it has ways to go
but its offering apps close to or better than iPhone
only difference is you dont hear about them like you do about the apple apps
go to android market website and search for apps yourself and see what comes up.
and btw you dont need to jailbreak android to install 3rd party apps, you can just select an option in the phone and download apps from 3rd party.

Droid apps are awesome. They have most of the popular games that the iPhone has like PapiJump, Action Potato, Angry Birds for free, and they do have other apps that are really cool like the barcode scanner, Google Sky Map, facebook chatting, FML, free mp3 and ringtone downloads, youtube... ect. (all of those are also free)

I haven't had my droid for too long, so I haven't really checked out too many apps, but all the ones I've seen are great.
