a similar year porsche? I am looking to swap my 71 transporter's engine and transaxle with one from a similar year porsche. How hard will this be? Is it even possible? What would be the hardest parts? I am doing it for the better gas mileage of the 5 speed, so is there any similar 5 speed that would be easier or cheaper to swap?

dont bother purring a porsche engine in there. too much work and money. get yourself a 5 speed gene berg tranny and build the stock 1600 into a 1776cc and you will get better top speed/performance, and properly tuned can get better mileage
