Cahill, Gifts of the Jews, is good. I think the explusion of Jews from Grenada was a big deal in (is it?) the 14th century. I think the 3 Jewish wars with Rome, including the Masada one in 66AD were turning points. The Babylonian enslavement, obviously. And, the establishment of Israel in 1945 - that's a big deal!
