How long after giving birth should I wait to have sex?

Tomorrow it will have been a month since I had my baby. Tomorrow is also my birthday and my husband really wants to have an intimate night. Since I'm breastfeeding, I haven't started birth control again. Should I ask my husband to wait a little longer or should I just go on and just be really careful? (I'm not trying to have any more children!)
