How long do unrefridgerated, uncut onions last?

I've had a large brown union for about a month in the pantry. I haven't had a use for it until now. I want to know if it's still good. (I know that I could cut into and find out, but I'm looking for ranges of days.)

If you know, how long do onions last, period?
