How long does it take for an image to disappear from the internet?

depends to the host/hosts, if this photo are used in other sites then it will stay sooooooooooo long. ooh gush, this is disgusting
 
I had this image on a website; I asked the webmaster to remove it and s/he did. But it still shows up in a lot of search engines' results(e.g. google, AOL). I know they take some time to re-index but how long will it take for it to totally disappear from the internet given that the image is no longer available on any websites?

Unfortunately, that image may be online forever. Rule of thumb: never put anything on the internet that you may not want later on. Pictures and text can be copied and put elsewhere, so if it's gone off one server, it's on another server. You can go through each server and domain that you see it on and ask the webmaster to remove it, but it's quite a process.
